Whether your happy or sad, studies have found that a three-month-old baby is able to pick up on your emotions
Medical experts have previously been unclear about when the human brain develops the skills to pick up and process voices and emotions, the previously thought that it was much later.
Researchers looked at the scans of 21 sleeping babies and found that their brain’s responded to different sounds that were being played, such as laughing and crying.
The results showed, that when a human voice was played, the temporal cortex in the brain activated, this is the same thing that happens in an adult’s brain.
Professor Declan Murphy, from King’s College London, spoke positively about the results. He said ‘This discovery fundamentally advances our understanding of infant development.’
Medics hope that the research will help in understanding the difference between the way that an autistic and a non-autistic brain works.
