Bed bug infestations are on the rise
Beg bugs often like to hide in the mattress

With bed bug infestations on the rise, homeowners need to be on the look out to ensure that they do not fall victim to the pests

Bed bugs are small insects that feed on human’s blood. The pests tend to live in small cracks, either in walls or in a mattress, that enable them to have close contact with humans.

As bed bugs tend to be nocturnal and multiply very quickly, it is vital that people are able to spot signs of their presence so as their removal can start as soon as possible.

The first sign of a bed bug is usually its bite. They often leave large red bumps on their victim’s body that can be very itchy.

It is also a good idea to look out for small black dots around the seams of a mattress. The black dots are their faeces and can be a vital clue as to where they are living.

The removal of bed bugs can be a lengthy process so it is best to start as soon as possible. New infestations can be removed by putting all bedding in a very hot wash but if this does not ease the problem then it is advised to call pest control.

Once you have solved your bed bug problem there so no certainty that they will not return but here are some simple tips that can help to lessen the chances:
• Keep your bedroom clutter free
• Avoid buying second hand bedding or mattresses
• Regularly wash your bedding in a hot wash
• Report any suspected bed bugs infestations to the pest control
