BlackBerry users are to be compensated with free apps to make up for the three-day global blackout that many users faced
The problem, which started in the middle of October, was caused by a faulty switch at a datacenter. Millions of BlackBerry users around the world unable to access their internet and emails.
To apologise for the problems, Blackberry are offering users the chance to download apps for free for a four week period, starting from October 19, 2011.
A total of 12 apps are being offered to customers, including Texas Hold’em Poker, Bubble Bash 2 and Photo Editor. BlackBerry have said that these apps are worth more than £63.
BlackBerry’s business customers have not been left out either. They are being offered a free month of technical support.
Mike Laziridis, chief of Blackberry owner Research in Motion, said, ‘We are grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience. We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again.’
