Brits still check their work emails even when they are on holiday

One in five Brits feel that they are forced to cancel their annual leave due to extreme work pressure
Harris Interactive, conducting research on behalf of Expedia, found that many people feel that they are unable to take time off as they feel guilty about the work that they have left behind.
Worrying results also showed that out of those who do manage to go on holiday, many still feel the need to log onto their work emails while they are away. Harris Interactive found that figures of people doing this had doubled over the past two years to 26 per cent.
Despite these results, more than three quarters of those surveyed recognised the benefits that taking a break can have on their work performance.
Professor Cary Cooper, leading psychologist, said, ‘These results show a clear strain in people feeling that they are unable to switch off from work.’
