It was the UK’s snowiest winter since 1993

New research indicates that almost half of small to medium sized businesses did not suffer from the UK’s harsh winter weather
YouGov’s Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) Omnibus survey has revealed that, despite the UK’s snowiest winter since 1993, 47 per cent of SME’s reported that their businesses had not suffered.
Similarly, 55 per cent believed that the adverse weather had little impact on the drop in sales for businesses.
Out of the 500 senior business decision makers surveyed, only 14 per cent felt that their businesses were severely affected by snow.
The study showed that whilst disruption in the Midlands was most evident, with 24 per cent reporting significant losses, a massive 63 per cent of Londoner’s claimed to be completely unaffected.
The news comes after the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) called upon the government to enforce measures to protect small companies. The FSB pushed for financial breathing space from banks and local authorities over the winter period, fearful that SME’s would drastically suffer otherwise.
