Chinese food is British favourite
British favourites like fish and chips are being left behind

Chinese food is the most popular type of food in the UK, overtaking Indian and classic British dishes, a new poll has revealed.

Research from Sharwood’s to mark Chinese New Year found that 39 per cent of respondents chose sweet and sour chicken or chow mein as their meal of choice over Indian favourites Tikka Massala and classic British meals such as a roast or fish and chips. These came in third place with 21 per cent of the vote. Italian and Thai completed the top five.

Sharwood’s Chinese Chef, Chung Yin Liu, said: ‘’Traditional English dishes will always have a place in our hearts, it’s easy to get bored of fish and chips or roast dinners, so it’s nice to enjoy something slightly more exotic.”

Brits are becoming more adventurous at home too, with two thirds of the 3,000 participants saying they cook exotic food at home on a regular basis. A third of them even reckoned that they would rather experiment with ethnic cooking at home then head to the nearest restaurant.

In the city breakdown figures Belfast came on top, spending the most on foreign food at £60.14 a month, followed by London (£56.32) and Brighton (£54.32). Aberdeen spent the least at £40.49 a month, with Oxford (£44.23) and Plymouth (£44.28) after.

Hello,
Jamon Serrano refers to the meat obtained from the legs of the White pig -Sus Scrofa Domesticus- and not from the Iberian Pig (also called Pata Negra). Jamon Serrano is considered of inferior quality than Iberico.
Jamon Serrano is legally classified depending on the length of the curation process: Gran Reserva, Reserva and, Bodega (highest to lowest quality).

Iberico ham also called jamon iberico or jamon de pata negra is produced from the rear legs of the iberian black pig, a particular breed only found in Spain and Portugal.
There are three main qualities of iberico hams: Bellota or Montanera, Recebo and Cebo (from highest to lowest).
For more information about iberico ham visit BuyJamon.com buy jamon iberico online and have it delivered to your door.
