A clothing retailer’s catalogue has been criticised for being ‘overtly sexual’ by ASA
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) complained that Jack Willis’ catalogue, which featured images of a topless man and women kissing whilst being sprayed with water, was unsuitable for a company that was targeted at teenagers.
The Devon-based company responded to the complaints arguing that the brand was aimed at university students and those who are over the age of 18. They also added that those wishing to read the catalogue would have had to confirm that they were 18 or over.
However, the ASA concluded that the catalogue was sufficiently provocative to present a risk to younger teenagers.
Jack Willis has previously been investigated by the ASA for including semi-naked models in their catalogues but they were cleared.
This time the company were not so lucky and the ASA adjudication ruled that theimages in their spring catalogue went too far.
