Weather extremes can damage the hair
|
Whether your getaway involves a tropical island or the snowy mountains, these trips can be a treat for your soul but not for your hair
According to Elizabeth Cunnane Phillips, trichologist at Philip Kingsley, ‘Weather extremes can damage the hair, leaving it brittle, dry and faded. However, with the proper repairing techniques, hair can be healthy and strong while at work or play.’
Here are her top tips:
• Post vacation, step into a salon for a trim and cut the split ends; this can make a big difference in the overall look of the hair.
• During and after your vacation, try to let your hair air dry either completely or at least a little bit before blow drying it; the less heat you infuse into your hair, the more moisture you will seal in.
• If you hair is feeling dry post vacation, make sure you shampoo and conditioner your hair daily with products that fit your hair type.
• Post vacation, guard against dry hair by considering the brush that you are using.
• During a warm weather vacation, protect your hair from the chlorine with a swimcap.
• A shampoo deep conditioning treatment will revive hair damage and beat dryness.
