Just 21 per cent agreed that they would move with their office

Only one in five employees would relocate to the other end of the country if their job required it, reveals a new survey
The study, carried out by YouGov, comes after presenters Sian Williams and Chris Hollins announced that they won’t be making the move to Manchester along with the BBC and their show, BBC Breakfast.
It has also been predicted that over half of the BBC One show’s team will choose to leave their jobs rather than move up north.
The YouGov study found that, given the choice between relocation, with some moving costs paid, and taking redundancy, 61 per cent of those polled would rather take redundancy.
Just 21 per cent agreed that they would move with their office if their job was being relocated to the other end of the country.
It is a difficult decision to make, especially if you have a family, as it would involve taking your children out of school.
Jeremy Dear, general secretary of the National Union of Journalists, has criticised the BBC’s decision to relocate, saying that ‘the move will mean a major upheaval for the staff affected.’
