The government hopes this will stop people from drink-driving

Drivers will be offered free soft drinks during the Christmas period as part of the government’s anti-drink campaign
The campaign, a partnership between the government’s road safety scheme, THINK! and Coca-Cola, hopes to encourage drivers not to drink alcohol and then get behind the wheel.
The campaign will be advertised on the radio, on posters and also online in a bid to reduce drink related accidents on the road during the Christmas period.
Mike Penning, who is involved in launching the campaign, said, ‘Drivers should be in no doubt that if they get behind the wheel after drinking this Christmas, they risk losing their licence as well as facing a fine and even a prison sentence.’
Mich Giannasi, chief constable, said, ‘Many drivers don’t realise that alcohol stays in the system for a number of hours, and that they could still be over the limit the next morning when driving to work or dropping the children off at school. That is why we are asking drivers to be safe, not sorry, this Christmas.
The government will be running this campaign until January 2, 2011.
