Glasses have become a fashion accessory

Wearing glasses to an interview increases your chances of being hired, reveals a new study
The study, carried out by College of Optometrists, found that employers were more likely to be impressed by a candidate who was wearing a pair of glasses.
The researchers found that a third of adults think that those who are wearing glasses look more professional and another 43 per cent agreed that they make people appear more intelligent.
People seem to have caught on to this as the study also revealed that 40 per cent of those surveyed would consider wearing glasses to an interview even if they had good vision, so as to improve their chances of getting the job.
Stereotypically associated with geeks and nerds, glasses have also been used as a fashion accessory over recent months by celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston.
Dr Susan Blakeney, optometric advisor to the College of Optometrists, said, ‘It’s great to see a shift in how we perceive glasses. However, it’s important to remember that regardless of fashion trends, wearing spectacles is about seeing clearly and comfortably - not just appearance.’
