Graduates to be given internships on new government scheme
The scheme has been devised to help university graduates gain employment
University graduates struggling to find work are to be given help thanks to a government scheme that will see the creation 10,000 “skilled internships” with small companies.
In line with the initiative, a weekly grant of £100 will be supplied to participating graduates, which would then be topped up by their small firm employer.
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) helped put the scheme together. They said graduates would stand to gain “real experience and develop real skills”.
The initiative was announced by Gordon Brown at the Labour Party conference.
He said: “Even in the midst of tough economic times, we are encouraging a whole new generation of young Britons to embrace ambition and British enterprise.”
FSB chairman John Wright celebrated the initiative as “a victory for small businesses across the country”.
He added: “This will help those graduates leaving university at a time when the job market is sluggish at best. Small firms will benefit from the skills of this workforce, which they traditionally find harder to recruit.”
Mr Wright confirmed that the FSB was committed to promoting the scheme among its members.

I would be interested to hear if this scheme is still going to happen now the coalition is making all these spending cuts. For me the best way to try and save money on training is to look at <a href=http://www.onlineschools.org/">online schooling</a> and see if there is any way you can improve your career chances by increasing your skills this way.
