Grow your own organic veg
Start by growing organic tomatoes, then move on to other vegetables

Save money and have better tasting veg by growing your own organically

It’s not as difficult as you think and you don’t even need to have a garden to do it. Plus, it’s the most organic way of eating there is. Start by growing some tomatoes. If you don’t have much space buy a mini greenhouse from Ikea (£9.99). Put a few seeds in a small pot, then into the greenhouse and leave in a warm place. Water every two to three days. Once the seeds have germinated the stalks will still be weak, so carefully transfer into a bigger pot and carry on watering. The stems are now getting stronger and will need feeding with compost and tomato feed. And make sure they are still positioned in the sunniest spot.

When they flower, be ready for them to fruit. Keep caring for them as before until the green fruit turns red. Now they’re ready for you to pick and enjoy in a yummy tomato and mozzarella salad.
