Handy hair tips from top New York celebrity hair stylist Paul Labrecque
How do you minimise static and frizz when you fly?
Before getting on a plane leave hair slightly damp with a leave in styling product/conditioner such as Paul Labrecque repair Style Hydrating Hair Lotion. This will help condition hair and retain much needed moisture lost from an airplane’s dry stale air. This is a light leave in conditioner that will leave your air dried hair feeling soft and manageable without weighing it down.
How do you minimise airplane trauma?
For longer hair pull back then slick back with a light styling gel or smoothing balm into a high pony. Smooth ends with a polishing serum to eliminate frizz. A fresh, simple and always stylish look perfect for a business meeting or just a casual day shopping and sightseeing. Use Paul Labrecque Daily Style Alcohol Free Holding Gel (£16.00) and Paul Labrecque Color Finish Polish and Seal Droplets (£15.00).
Shorter hair styles should just go with the messy tussled look. No one needs to know you were flying all day or night…A quick brush or comb through your hair with the right products will give you a look straight off the runway. Paul Labrecque Color Style Fade Prevention Foam (£18.00) will keep your hair fresh and give you body and shine with a light touchable hold. Follow with the Paul Labrecque Daily Finish Matte Pomade (£18.00) for texture and definition. Scrunch a small amount in hair, concentrate on your ends and mess it up. Add a touch of lip gloss and you’re ready to go! If all else fails pull hair back with a stretch headband!
Choosing your summer style
Choosing a natural looking style that suits your face and personality. Healthy hair that moves is always in style. This summer work with soft fringe and longer layers for movement and a sexy sophisticated look.
Choosing your summer colour
For brunettes paint on rich brown and carmel shades of color for a fresh look, for blondes it’s all about soft beige and honey tones.
And of course always keep your hair healthy with quality shampoos and conditioners. Follow with light styling products that aren’t stiff or sticky and won’t dry hair out.
Ultimate summer treatment tip:
Give yourself a hot oil treatment while you sunbathe, use Paul Labrecque Repair Condition Hair & Scalp Treatment. Take one of the 5 bottles of Lemon Grass Oil and bury it in the sand to heat the liquid to an oil. Then slick it into your hair and make it into a pony tail and continue to sunbathe or spend the day on the beach. It will not only protect your hair but you will have received an excellent deep hot oil treatment whilst you’re out playing. At night, or back at the hotel, shampoo and style your hair as normal.
Pre-holiday hair
If you are preparing for a beach vacation, start by preparing your hair with a treatment that will keep its vitality while away. I would suggest our Daily Condition Dead Sea Mud Mask. Used as an intensive treatment wrapped with a steaming towel you will restore your hair and add luster. If you are going to be under intense sun, I would save coloring and cutting till I arrived back home.
However if your roots are in bad need of being done and you don’t want to leave looking anything but your best, make sure you use Paul Labrecque Color Shampoo and Color Conditioner, these two products will protect your color with the essence of sunflower that acts as a natural hydrating sunscreen.
Holiday sophisticated style
Pony’s are definitely the look to go away in. By day they are functional, and leave you open to athletics. By night they are transformed into sophisticated finishes that will make any girl stand out on the town.
Protecting your hair in the Sun
When you are out in intense sun take the 30 sun screen you use on your skin and slather it into your hair. What’s good for the skin can never harm hair.
Can’t afford salon treatments for your holiday?
Some of the most nourishing ingredients for your hair can be found in your refrigerator! Avocados and olive oil are filled with essential fats that are often used in hair products; mayonnaise, eggs, and milk contain lipids and proteins that are very nourishing for your hair and scalp. Blend, chill and apply. Let sit for 15-20 minutes, rinse and shampoo for amazing shine!
Controlling frizz
For a quick cheat, a flat iron and a silicone product such as Frizzies or Paul Labrecque Color Finish will take away frizz for the moment - fast and quick. Longer term, we would try to heal what is there and not create any more frizz. This is a double-edged sword for if you use a flat iron as the frizz is initially gone but in reality, there will be more frizz from intense heat and the pulling motions combined. Follow these 5 steps to repair the hair:
Step One
Deep conditioning every day with Paul Labrecque Repair Condition instant Condition, will shut the cuticle layer down and let the hair begin to heal itself.
Step Two
Protect your hair with a thermal protector before blow-drying.
Step Three
Only use 100% boar Bristle Round Brushes. What these do is stretch the hair while spreading the natural oils from your own scalp. Because Boar is porous, your own body oils get absorbed into the brush thus using your own sebum to condition your hair. Remember you may need more than one size brush - small for hair around the face especially baby hairs, and larger for hair that is longer in length
Step Four
Use Paul Labrecque Color Finish Polish & Seal Droplets (£15) droplets to soothe away any fly-aways that remain when hair is dry.
Step Five
Always bring a loose scrunchy when walking in humidity to keep your hair away from your face especially if your sweaty in nature. Loose scrunchies never mark the hair and are made of either a soft velvet or Terri.

Well, i read in an article that if you buy sea salt spray and spray your hair while it’s still wet, and scrunch it up with your hands and you’ll get that beachy-wave look.
you could also just put sea salt in a spray bottle filled with water and use that.
hope i helped.Santa Monica Hair Salon

Hi,
During summer months when hair tends to be moisture deprived, limit use of hair chemicals (bleach, hair color, relaxers, chemical straigteners) as much as possible.Hanging out in the sun without protection for your hair and scalp is the worst thing you can do. Use leave in hair products with SPF protection when you know you will be at the beach if you’re unwilling to wear a hat or a cover-up.
