Visits abroad may have fallen over recent years but it seems that parents are increasingly influenced by holiday destinations when deciding on baby names
New research has found that over 18,000 parents are choosing to call their children after places overseas, such as Bali, Cuba, Rio and Florence.
Perhaps influenced by the famous socialite, Paris was also found to be a popular baby name.
The study also found that it was not just places abroad that were inspiring new parents – a total of 1,255 babies have been called Devon over the past 10 years.
Faye Mingo, spokesperson for Bounty Parenting Club, who carried out the research, said, ‘Our records show that parents are becoming more and more creative with their choices and are increasingly inspired by their holiday destinations.’
The Bounty Parenting Club found that the top ten holiday destination baby names are:
1. Florence
2. Rio
3. Paris
4. India
5. Sydney
6. Lucia
7. Brooklyn
8. Savannah
9. Devon
10. Phoenix
