Oliver and Olivia top baby names’ list
Sophie, Emily, Lily and Amelia all rose into the top five

Oliver and Olivia were the most popular baby names across England and Wales in 2010 for the second year running

The Office of National Statistics found that Oliver was the most common name in eight English regions, while Olivia was the top name in seven. The statistics showed that in Wales, Oliver and Ruby are the most common name.

There were no new entries in the girl’s top 10, but Sophie, Emily, Lily and Amelia all rose into the top five.

On the girl’s list, the name Maisy saw the highest rise in popularity; it rose from 141 in 2009 to 100th place in 2010.

Bobby, Caleb, Jenson, Dexter and Kayden were all new entries into the boy’s top 100. Whilst Annabelle, Eliza, Laila, Maryam were new additions to the girl’s names.
