Painkillers increase risk of heart attack
Many people take painkillers to help cure common health issues

Regularly taking painkillers could increase the risk of having a heart attack or a stroke, new research has suggested

The report, published in the British Medical Journal, discovered that the findings relate to people who are taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, over a long period of time.

However experts have said that people who just take the tablets now and then are at minimal risk.

Peter Juni, professor of clinical epidemiology at the University of Bern, Switzerland, told the BBC, ‘For elderly (people) with musculoskeletal pain there must be extreme care when prescribing or taking these drugs.’

The British Heart Foundation has commented that anyone who is worried about their medication should speak to their doctor
