Spending time in the sun can be good for us

Going out in the sunshine for short spells is good for our health, reveals a new scientific study
Although there may not be much sun around at the moment, health experts are advising people to go out during the midday sunshine so as to increase vitamin D consumption.
The study has found that the nutrient keeps bones strong and helps to protect against conditions like osteoporosis.
It is thought that fears about skin cancer has resulted in people being too cautious about spending time in the sun but Cancer Research has agreed that ‘little and frequent’ spells in the sunshine several times a week can benefit your health.
Professor Peter Johnson, Cancer Research’s chief clinician, said, ‘A good diet and sensible sun exposure will be adequate for the great majority of the UK population to minimise their cancer risk.’
