Ruby and Millie share their make-up secrets

‘Never pump mascara – this generates air and dries the mascara out.
If it’s hot, keep all your eyeliners and lipliners in the fridge. But normally make-up should be kept at room temperature.
If you don’t have an eyelash curler, apply your mascara as usual and while it’s still wet, using your pinky finger push up the lash and hold for five seconds, and voila, instant curl.’

‘Wear nude lipliner in the inside of your eyes to make them look whiter, trust me, it works.
For the ultimate sexy pout, apply red lipstick to the middle of your bottom lip – it gives the impression you are slightly flushed – very sexy!’

‘I always apply my foundation before getting into the bath, as the steam helps it to settle. This technique makes the finished look incredibly natural.
Never put foundation down the centre of the face as pores tend to be larger and foundation sinks in.’

‘For super sheer foundation apply your moisturiser with a make-up sponge and then use the same sponge to smooth on your foundation.
The trick to bleed-proof lipstick is to line the lips after applying your lip colour.
If you are in-between colouring appointments at your hairdresser and you have some greys to cover up, brush on an eyeshadow in a similar shade to your hair.’

‘Apply foundation drop by drop, starting with problem areas, like dark circles and discolourations. If you use your fingers, tap, don’t rub, to get true coverage.
If applying bronzer, use it like a contour first – under cheeks, on temples, and then hit the front of the face, just like the sun does.’
