Over 30 per cent of an average household bin can be composted

The UK is on track to reach its 2010 target to recycle 40 per cent of household waste, according to the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
National Recycling Week is back for its 14th year to boost the country’s focus on minimising waste.
Running from 8-14 November, the campaign aims to improve recycling programmes and educate householders to avoid waste through building on our daily habits to reduce, reuse and recycle at home.
Over 30 per cent of an average household bin can be composted, so keep your recycling boxes at the ready and throw in everything from vegetable peelings and teabags to egg boxes and shredded paper.
