Romance is blooming in the office

Many singletons have found romance at work, reveals a new survey

Your heart flutters when you see him and your knees go wobbly when you have to approach him for the stapler, a new survey, carried out by Maris Interiors, has found that 56 per cent of employees have been involved in an office romance

The survey also revealed that quite often these romances have turned out to be more than just a fumble in the stationery cupboard, as 22 per cent have admitted that their office romance has turned into a ‘long term relationship.’

And it is not just mortals that have found romance in the workplace, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s romance blossomed while they were filming on the set of Mr & Mrs. Smith. Their relationship has gone on successfully with marriage, children and the adoption of three other children.

However, not all managers agree with office romances as the survey also revealed that 5 per cent of employers have banned romance in the workplace.

Claire Walker, Human Resources at Maris Interiors, warned that bosses may be on dodgy legal ground by banning relationships at work at the Human Rights Act 1998 gives everyone the right to a private life.

Walker said, ‘As long as there has been no misconduct, such as sharing of confidential data, employees shouldn’t feel worries about their jobs.’
