A calming bedroom and a comfy bed make all the difference

If you find yourself sleeping less and less, transform your bedroom into a haven of tranquillity so you can get a good nights’ kip
With bedrooms often thought of as the place we relax, the reality is that they have become an extension of our office and a place where we charge our gadgets, with many of us making calls, going online and sending texts from our beds according to a recent survey from The Sleep Council.
It’s also not quite the romantic sanctuary we would like to believe, with as many as 40% of us rarely going to bed at the same time as our partner and one in four people regularly sleeping in a different bed.
With six in 10 thirtysomethings usually ‘very tired or shattered’ when they go to bed, such a bleak snapshot of our bedroom lives suggests that it’s time to make the bedroom more of a retreat, a place of quiet and rest.
The best way to transform your bedroom is to think of it less as a functional sleeping place and more of a boudoir. You should be to walk into your bedroom and feel at ease in a relaxed atmosphere with a comfortable ambience –so get the style right.
Decide between a sleek contemporary style or a romantic blow-out and choose furniture, colours and bedding accordingly. A few new concepts, such as totally fitted furniture, a chaise longue or a day-bed enables you to use your bedroom for more than just sleeping. Above all, make this room your own special space where you feel totally comfortable.
