Supermarket assistants are unhelpful to customers trying to buy bottles of wine, reveals a new survey
The research, carried out by Wineoption.org, found that people who do not know much about wine are made to feel lost in the wine isle.
The biggest complaint, the survey found, was that customers felt that the shop assistants were unable to provide understandable advice.
The survey found that 45 per cent of participants admitted to feeling intimidated by the shop assistants who were in charge of the wine section.
Survey participants also complained about the lack of labelling on bottles of wine.
A spokesperson, from Wineoption.org, said, “Supermarkets really need to get to grips with the signposting issue, just dividing wines into regions does not give enough information for the modern consumer to make a choice.’
