UK unemployment has dropped by 17,000 in three months, reveals new official figures
The figures, released by The Office of National Statistics (ONS), revealed at the end of February the number of unemployed people in the UK stood at 2.48m.
The biggest change has been seen in the number of unemployed men, which fell by 31,000 in the three months to the end of February.
Chris Grayling, employment minister, said, ‘These figures are another step in the right direction.’
However, the results were not so bright for women as the number of jobless women rose by 14,000.
Unemployment amongst 16 to 24-year-olds did not appear to change much, with 963,000 young people thought to be without jobs.
