Employment figures have temporarily on the rise
|
The number of people unemployed in the UK has fallen to just under 3 million, however the fall is not expected to last
The UK jobs market has reported this is the second month in a row that the jobless number has fallen, however recovery in the employment market is set to stall over the next few months as a third of public sector employers prepare to make redundancies.
Across all sectors employers are expecting to lose 5.5% of staff, up from the 3.6% being considered three months ago.
Gerwyn Davies, CIPD public policy adviser and report author says, ‘The employment situation looks like a case of the good, the bad and the ugly. While the number of employers planning to make redundancies is similar to that in the spring, this trend masks the true extent of forthcoming job losses in the third quarter of the year. This is being driven chiefly by public sector organisations, where redundancies will affect almost 8% of the workforce on average.’
