Women should give their man a helping hand
Testicular cancer is common among young men

Women have been encouraged to check their partner for signs of testicular cancer

Testicular cancer is the most common type of cancer among young men aged 15-45 and affects around 2,000 men every year.

If it is caught early, this form of male cancer has a 95 per cent cure rate. Yet, in 1 out of three cases, the disease will have spread before diagnosis.

New research, carried out by Orchid, has found that 50 per cent of men would feel more comfortable if their partner checked their testicles for signs than their GP.

Many men revealed that they were often too embarrassed to go and see their doctor for a testicle check-up.

William Gingell was diagnosed with testicular cancer at 17 years old. He says, ‘I really owe my life to my girlfriend, it was her who found the lump in my testicle and without her encouragement and support I know I would have been far too embarrassed to make an appointment with my GP to get it checked out. I think this campaign is a great idea and wholeheartedly encourage women to check their partners or at least encourage their partners to check themselves; they may just save a life.’
