Women who have suffered from reoccurring miscarriages have been told that their chance of having a baby is the same as women who have never had a miscarriage
The news was issued after a doctors met in Sweden to discuss the latest fertility medicine.
As many women are told that the reason for their loss is unknown, many couples are left with the difficult decision of what action to take and whether it’s worth trying again.
The medical experts in Sweden looked at two different studies, which followed the outcome of women with unexplained recurrent miscarriages.
The first was a Danish study that looked at 1,000 women who suffered from a row of miscarriages and found that two-thirds of these couples went on to have at least one child.
The second study, carried out in the Netherlands with 213 women, found that 70 per cent of these women became pregnant after a year of trying for a baby.
Dr Stefan Kaandorp, who led the Dutch study, said, ‘Our results mean that women with recurrent miscarriage can be reassured that their time to a subsequent conception is not significantly longer than that for fertile women without a history of miscarriage.’
