Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog leads the nominations for this year’s Oscars after nominees for the awards were announced.
The film which stars Benedict Cumberbatch landed a total of 12 nominations but is followed closely by Dune with 10 nominations and West Side Story and Belfast which both have seven each. Benedict Cumberbatch is alongside other British acting nominees including Olivia Coleman and Andrew Garfield.
Nominees were revealed in all 23 categories, from best director to best international film feature, in addition with the acting categories and below-the-line categories. Leslie Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
The 94th annual Academy Awards will take place on Sunday 27th March at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre however this year’s host is yet to be unveiled.
The ceremony hasn’t had a host since Jimmy Kimmel was at the helm in 2018 and experienced a significant drop in ratings last year partly due to big film releases being delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
