Where do herbal remedies and healing originate?

The use of plants as medicines and nourishment dates as far back as the origin of mankind. Even carnivorous animals are known to consume plants.

Through trial and error it was discovered that some plants are good for food, that some are poisonous, and that some produce bodily changes such as increased perspiration, bowel movement, urination, relief of pain, hallucination, and healing. The roots of Indian medicine were set in the sacred writings called the Vedas, which date back as far as the 2nd century BC. The Indian system of medicine was called the Ayurveda. The Indian materia medica, or list of herbs used as medicines, was quite extensive. As early as 800 BC one Indian writer knew 500 medicinal plants.  Use of sandalwood for beautifying, for example, has been documented in the Charaka –a book tracing the origins of health and well-being in India.

How can botanicals and natural materials be used to aid slimming?

Losing weight is sometimes not easy. Today with obesity at an all-time high, it is very important to do what we can to keep our weigh within normal limits.

  1. Cut down on kapha or “heavy” foods.  Kapha food lead to weight gain. These foods are generally dense and high in calories. Go for dry light foods.
  2. Increase Green tea, Ginger and Kelp in your diet. These botanicals help in digesting food, curb the appetite and aid metabolism.  Kelp is believed to slow to conversion of fats and carbohydrates into body fat. Green tea helps create heat in the body to help burning fuels such as fat. Ginger improves digestion. If you cannot eat these daily you can get them in CoolSlim Capsules.
  3. Slimming wraps have botanicals that can help tighten and tone. Use a marine body wrap once a week. This will aid slimming and help to remove toxins, fluids and small amount of fat deposits. The marine extracts act as fat burners increasing the local metabolism. Use a firming body belt in between wraps.

What natural components are useful for tackling spot-prone skin?

Neem is an ayurvedic botanical known as nature’s pharmacy as it is so good for skin conditions. Neem is a natural antibacterial, antifungal and anti yeast and helps keep pores clear. The Brahmi botanical helps to calm down a red acne prone skin.

Use a facial wash containing Neem and Brahmi to keep spots at bay and a cream containing neem will ensure that your skin stays clear. These products are safe and can be used in teens who are suffering from acne. Avoid products containing salicylic acid and tretinoins which can thin the skin.

Basil or Tulsi is great for soothing the skin too. A concoction can also be made with the leaves and it can be drunk to detoxify from within.
