Where does my cat go?

There’s unlikely a cat owner in the land who hasn’t at one point or another realised their feline friend has wandered off. With the help of Tabcat, Live to 100 investigates how using a cat-tracking device might assist you in finding your cat, tracking your cat and even training him/her to come home!

Using a cat-tracking device.

Cats and kittens are curious; while they tend to stay “local” they do seem to disappear into the most unheard of places! This creates stress for you, wondering if your cat has come to some harm, or is perhaps hungry or cold!

Peace of Mind for You

Knowing you can find your cat if he does disappear is probably the most fundamental reason for purchasing a cat tracker. We all know how inquisitive our pets are. And it’s a rare cat owner who hasn’t ever had to go out searching for their cat because they’ve been missing for a longer period than normal. With a cat tracking device fixed securely to your cat’s collar, you don’t need to worry about them going missing and not being able to find them ever again.

Cats Like to Roam

Whilst cats are unlikely to end up miles away from home; they certainly do like to wander about within their ‘own territory’. With quite a large area to cover, keeping track on your cat is not a simple task, and you’re unlikely to find her/her without help. Having a good idea of where you could be heading for is going to save you time and stress – when you start searching for your cat. It’s not just distance that’s an issue, but also hidden places (into attics and under floorboards are common hiding places!)

Obstacles in the Way

There will almost certainly be some physical barriers and obstacles to overcome if you’re out looking for your cat. These include such things as household fences, brick walls, hedges, etc. Without a clear sense of direction as to where your cat is situated, these obstacles can soon become disorienting and make searching for your cat over a large area of ground all the more difficult. One of the scariest things for any cat owner is the thought of your beloved family member becoming trapped in unfamiliar surroundings. Using a cat tracking device to pinpoint your cat’s location, wherever he is, will help you to stay on the right path to finding him as quickly as possible.

Cats can become trapped.

Cats are inquisitive, and there are many places they could start exploring that could lead to them becoming trapped and unable to get out. These include:

– Outbuildings, garages and sheds, where your cat may wander through an open door or window, then find they can’t find their way back to the opening. Or, indeed, the opening may close behind them once they’ve meandered through.

– Factories and office buildings, where your cat may be able to get in, but unable to find their way back out.

– Holes in the ground, such as rabbit or mole holes, where it becomes increasingly difficult for your cat to turn around, so trapping him underground.

– Trees are a staple of comic stories, but it is simply a fact that cats can become stuck on the branches of a tree. Cats are exceptionally good at climbing upwards, but not so good at climbing back down again.

– Other people’s houses are also a lure for cats. While this might not indicate they are particularly ‘trapped’, you will certainly want to know if your cat starts visiting other people in the area.

With the safety and security that comes from knowing you’ll be able to find your cat – wherever they get to – you’re certain to feel much better about letting them roam around outside as much as they want.

Walking Along a Fence

It is often a marvel to owners of cats why they may choose the more difficult route of walking along a fence rather than walking on the path. There isn’t really any reason for this – apart from the fact that they can!

Cats are incredibly skilled at balancing, so it is an excellent way to showcase their skills while laughing at their human companions who are unable to balance in quite the same way. The problem is, they may easily get off the fence on the wrong side of home!

The Tabcat cat tracker collar fits easily but securely onto your cat’s collar, without causing any irritation or the kind of uncomfortable sensation that comes with larger cat locating devices. The Tabcat system uses radio frequency, rather than GPS, to locate your cat so that you can be sure of pinpoint accuracy and less expensive running costs. www.mytabcat.com/liveto100
