1. Save Money
Stopping smoking will definitely give your wallet a well-earned rest. Let’s say you smoke a packet of 20 cigarettes a day. At around £8 a pack, that means you’re blowing £56 a week, £224 a month and about £2,688 a year feeding your bad habit. That’s a lot of money to be sent up in smoke!

2. Save Time
On average, the time spent taking a cigarette break is around ten minutes. If you smoke approximately 20 cigarettes a day, this could amount to three hours per day – that’s just over 20 hours a week and possibly 80 hours a month! Just imagine what you could do with all that free time if you finally kicked the habit?
3. Stronger immune system
Cigarette smoking seriously weakens the body’s immune system which, as a result, causes an increased risk of catching certain malignant diseases and respiratory infections, such as pneumonia and influenza. Moreover, frequent absences from work due to ill health won’t make you richer, and certainly won’t impress your employer. Research also shows that smokers take longer to recover from illness than non-smokers.
4. Better look and improved wellbeing
Smoking tobacco can leave its stamp, not only on your health but also on your physical appearance. A very common misconception is that smokers are often slimmer than the rest of the population. However, in reality this is actually a sign of muscle deterioration, caused by smoking, where blood and oxygen flow around the body is reduced. Eventually, the effects of a long-term relationship with cigarettes will also appear on your face: problematic skin; wrinkles; dehydrated, grey and lifeless complexion; dark circles and eye bags – to name just a few!

5. Enhanced sensation
Ultimately, saying “no” to tobacco can give your senses a much-needed boost. Sensations of taste and smell are significantly dampened in smokers due to high levels of toxins in cigarettes. Give up your habit and you’ll be amazed at how much tastier your favourite foods can be! Additionally, your enhanced sense of smell should help you see just how repulsive the odour of stale tobacco can be for others around you.
6. Better breathing
It is said that lung capacity improves by up to 10% within nine months of putting out your last cigarette. Even though you can’t see the harmful impact cigarettes have on your lung capacity during your 20s or 30s, be assured, it does get more noticeable as you age. It’s scientifically proven that the human body functions more efficiently when properly oxygenated.
7. Sweeter smile
Smoking stains your teeth and gives you bad breath but, worse still, you are more prone to gum disease and premature tooth loss if you are a smoker.
8. Boost fertility
Having trouble conceiving? It could be down to smoking. Everything from increasing sperm potency to decreasing the chance of miscarriage can all be achieved by stubbing out your habit.

9. Live longer
If you quit smoking by the age of 30 you’ll add 10 years to your life, but even if you kick the habit at 60 you can expect to live three years longer. Whatever your age there’s a reason to stop, and the earlier you do it, the better your quality of life will be.
10. Achieve the big “O”
Cutting out cigarettes can improve the circulation of blood around the body, thus heightening sensitivity. Both men and women can benefit from increased sexual pleasure, from an ability to get aroused more easily, to achieving a deeper orgasm.
