Stay on trend with the twisted top knot

Super-chic and extra sleek, the twisted top knot is one of this season’s fastest ways to stay on trend

With a host of celebrity fans, including Whitney Port, Gwen Stefani and Jessica Hart, you wouldn’t believe that this look takes just 10 minutes to create.

Now, you can create this look yourself:

1. Brush hair into a high ponytail using a pure bristle brush.  This will help to tame static hair and gives a smooth and shiny finish.

2. Tie the ponytail with a hair band. Use two hairbands for very thick hair to ensure it stays secure.

3. Take the ponytail and split it in to two pieces. Then twist the two pieces together in to a rope twist, pulling it quite tight.

4. Once you reach the end twist it back on itself to form a bun.

5. Pin the bun securely with pins to secure the hair; you will only need a few to keep the bun in place.

6. Finish by spraying liberally with a firm hold hairspray.

To create this look, you can use the Denman D82S Pure Bristle Cushion hairbrush (£12.49); Hair Gallery Snagease hairbands (£2.29); Salon Services Heavy Plain Pin hair grips (£9.79); and Salon Services Hair Spray Extra Hold (£5.29) which are all available from www.sallyexpress.com
