How to avoid diabetes with some simple advice

Diabetes is a common, long-term condition that affects nearly three million people in the UK. Here are some tips how to avoid it.

If left untreated, diabetes can lead to many different health problems, which means detecting the early signs is key to tackling the condition.

Eat Well
Eating three, well-spaced and nutritionally balanced meals a day will help control your appetite and stabilise your blood sugar levels. Your diet should contain lots of fruit and vegetables and be low in salt, fat and added sugar.

Stay active
Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity a week. One way to approach this is to do 30 minutes at least 5 days a week. You don’t have to run a marathon – dancing, walking and playing with your kids all count!

Quit smoking

Be wary of alcohol
