Empathy Day is taking place throughout the UK on Thursday 8th June.
“If there’s something we need in this world more than anything, it’s empathy.”
Sir Michael Morpurgo
The emotional well-being of children is just as important as their physical health but it’s not something that all children are taught about or are offered support for. Harnessing empathy and growing their emotional intelligence allows children and young people to develop the resilience to cope with life’s ups and downs as well as understand and experience other people’s emotions, feelings and points of view, and learn that empathy is our human superpower.
This year’s Mission Empathy challenge is made up of five creative, empathy-boosting activities:
- 1. Empathy Power Reads
- 2. Empathy 360°
- 3. Empathy Exchange
- 4. Empathy Emotions Map
- 5. Make an Empathy Resolution
At the end, you’ll be able to download and display your certificate! Click here for more on the challenge: https://www.empathylab.uk/mission-empathy-challenge
Empathy Day Live! on Thursday 8th June is the specially created FREE online festival for children and families, streamed throughout the day and featuring a brilliant line-up of authors and illustrators, which gives children the tools, confidence and knowledge to harness this very special power.
You can watch short films of your favourite authors and illustrators modelling the challenge activities, perfect for inspiring children and young people.
