What are the main skin concerns during perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause?
Like most things in life, skin concerns may differ from person to person, however the below skin concerns mentioned are the most common.
- Dryness – As estrogen levels decrease, you may experience increased dryness due to decreased sebum (oil) production.
- Dehydration – As we age, our hyaluronic acid levels (which keep the skin hydrated) decrease.
- Enlarged Pores – Pores will appear larger due to weaker collagen and elastic tissue.
- Blemishes – Due to hormonal changes, women may break out during perimenopause and menopause.
- Fine Lines/Wrinkles – In the first five years of menopause, a woman can lose approx. 30% of her skin’s collagen, causing a loss of firmness which contributes to the development of wrinkles.
What causes them?
As the skin ages, its cell turnover slows down, which means that dead skin cells are more likely to accumulate on the top layer. The skin is thinner and more sensitive, meaning gentle exfoliation is super important. The recommendation is that those with menopausal skin should exfoliate no more than twice a week, using a gentle, hydrating, and natural exfoliating scrub.
When looking for products to help with oily or blemish-prone skin during menopause, it’s recommended to avoid harsh blemish remedies because the skin is thinner and more sensitive from aging. Try looking for soap-free cleansers with salicylic acid to unclog pores as well as using a retinoid 2 to 3 times per week.

Are they suitable for pregnant women?
Yes absolutely. AMELIORATE is cruelty-free, silicone-free, PEGs free, dermatologically tested and clinically proven. Our products are suitable for children age 3+ and pregnancy-safe.
Are they suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
All of our products are suitable for vegetarians, but our LaH6 range is not vegan, as our products contain milk protein. Vegan products can be found in our LaB6 (blemish-prone) range.
Are they suitable for people with nut allergies?
AMELIORATE’s products in the LaH6 range contain Sweet Almond Oil – Almond Oil does not contain the proteins that cause concern for allergy sufferers. However, if you have a severe nut allergy we advise you to take medical advice before using any product that contains a nut-derived ingredient.
Can I use the products if I have psoriasis or eczema?

However, as Psoriasis and Eczema are medical conditions, they should be treated as advised by a doctor or medical practitioner first.
