- Do pet flaps present a problem with heat loss?

- What functions do microchip, and collar tag cat flaps offer?
These restrictive entry flaps remain in a locked state until a registered pet is within range – this is a wonderful way of preventing unwanted animals from using the flap, but it also serves as another layer of protection from weather. These flaps have a draught excluding strip around the edge of the flap to help keep the cold out.
Microchip flaps utilise the vet implanted microchip to register the cat to the flap. The collar tag uses the same kind of technology, but the signal is emitted via an RFID tag – great for pets whose microchip has migrated. These collar tags can emit a stronger signal than a vet implanted microchip, meaning that the flap can unlock quicker. This is ideal if you have a dog that likes to zoom through the flap rather than leisurely stroll up to it!

- Does an installation always require a site visit first?
Not all installations need a preliminary site visit; photos are usually enough for door and wall installations.
Glass installations will require a site visit – this is when our installer will take accurate measurements for your replacement glass. All glass needs to be toughened by law – this means that you cannot cut into existing glass, or it will shatter like a car windscreen.
- How long does it take to have a pet flap installed?
The time it takes to complete the installation depends upon whether it is a door, wall or glass installation.
We send out the pet flap to each customer in preparation for the installation. Orders using products from overseas manufacturers will take longer to be received than ones based in the UK.
Simple door installations can be completed in less than an hour whereas wall installations can take upwards of 2 hours to complete.
Any installation that requires something to be manufactured i.e. glass, acrylic glass substitute or made to order products vary in time according to the manufacturer.
