From selecting the correct mattress to fitting awkward spaces, there are lots of decision to be made when choosing a children’s bed. The experts from Stompa explain their range
• What are the most popular products in the Stompa range?
Our most popular beds are those which offer additional functions including storage, desk space for homework and hobbies or trundle and chair beds which are handy for sleepovers. Our award-winning mattresses are also incredibly popular. Our Stompa S Flex Airflow mattress had previously been voted Best Buy in the Independent’s IndyBest “10 best mattresses for children that ensure a great night’s sleep” round-up for three successive years since its introduction to the market in 2018. Our pocket sprung version of the mattress has since held the Best Buy title for the past two years.
• What are the latest launches?
We have recently updated and expanded our Classic range with a new mid sleeper in standard UK single size which features a pull out desk and storage. There is also a new Classic high sleeper available with or without a chair bed. These new Classic beds are all available in both white and grey colourways. There is also a new grey colourway option for our well-established Uno range which takes extra-long single mattresses allowing plenty of growing space. We are currently developing a new Stompa Studio collection aimed at teenagers through to young adults. This will include single, small double and double beds along with storage and deeper versions of our award-winning Stompa mattresses suitable for use by older teenagers and adults alike.
• What are some of the best solutions for situations such as small rooms or lack of storage space?
All Stompa beds are designed with space to allow additional storage with a modular system of freestanding units which can be mixed and matched to a customer’s requirements. Our mid sleepers are available with pull out desks which can be pushed back beneath the bed when not in use. Options for our high sleepers include desk space and extending chair beds. Trundle drawers beneath our bunk beds can be used for storage or can be converted into a trundle bed with the addition of one of our award-winning mattresses. These are all ideal for small rooms as everything can fit under the footprint of one bed. We aim to make small rooms larger and to offer children’s beds and furniture with unique features.
• What is the importance of choosing the right mattress for kids?
All Stompa mattresses are developed specifically for children from age four through to teen years. They are of the correct firmness to promote proper spinal alignment and feature Airflow technology to help regulate temperature and moisture level throughout the night. Our award-winning Stompa S Flex Airflow mattresses feature child friendly removable and washable covers.
• Do Stompa products conform to safety regulations?
Safety is of the greatest importance to us and all Stompa beds and mattresses are compliant and tested to the relevant safety standards for sale within the UK. These include structural tests for our beds and flammability tests for our mattresses and fabrics.
• Are Stompa products environmentally friendly?
All of our timber is obtained from managed FSC and PEFC certified forests. We use recyclable card packaging and the use of plastics is reduced where possible. Where plastic wrap is required to protect wooden components from scuffs or to maintain the vacuum seal of our boxed mattresses then this uses a minimum of 30% recycled content.
• What warranty is offered on Stompa products?
All Stompa beds and furniture come with a two-year warranty as standard. This is extended to five years if your bed is assembled upon delivery by one of our delivery and assembly partner’s fully trained teams. All of our mattresses now come with a five-year warranty as standard.
• What are the delivery times for Stompa products?
We are currently advising delivery lead times of two to three weeks. Our delivery and assembly partner would contact you directly to book a delivery date. If you need to defer delivery then this is not a problem and they will work with you to find a convenient delivery date. For mattress only orders, these are delivered within five working days.
• What’s the story behind Stompa?
The Stompa trademark was established in 1960 by a family business originally founded in 1906 in Norway. A good reputation for its bunk beds was soon built and from the 60’s the family focused on producing good quality children’s beds and furniture. Stompa enjoyed great success in Scandinavia for many years and in 1980 was introduced into the UK and soon became a well-known household name in the market. In recent years Stompa has gone through a number of changes both in production and ownership. The Stompa brand is now British owned and is a family run business situated in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. Production has moved to Stompa’s main, original sub-supplier in Estonia where long-standing carpentry traditions are combined with the latest efficient manufacturing techniques. The ethos of the company still remains the same; the goal is to appeal to children and parents through good design, long-lasting quality and with safety at the top of our list. We offer more than just a bed.
