Only 30% of people in need of a blood stem cell donation find a matching donor within their family, which leaves 70% of people dependent on finding a match among those that have registered as potential blood stem cell donors. This is what makes registering as a potential blood stem cell donor so important.
Delete Blood Cancer UK is a charity that registers potential blood stem cell donors. Their mission is to provide a suitable donor for people in need of a blood stem cell donation. They believe that not a single person suffering with blood cancer should die because they are unable to find a matching blood stem cell donor.
Since Delete Blood Cancer UK’s launch in February 2013, 65% of registrations have been female. Delete Blood Cancer UK would like to see a more even gender split and has launched a nationwide campaign to ask more young men to register with the question, ‘are you going to show?’
It takes five minutes to register online and go on standby to become a blood stem cell donor. Tell the men in your life: www.deletebloodcancer.org.uk
