Do Baby Mattresses Matter? Introducing Respiro

Do crib mattresses matter? Choosing one may sound like a boring task, but it actually entails careful consideration.

Your baby will spend a lot of time in the crib and therefore a lot of time on the mattress. You baby will sleep on average up to about 18 hours a day.

It is important to consider getting a mattress that fits the crib properly and doesn’t leave any gaps that could pose a danger to your baby.

Baby mattresses should also be relatively firm, as a soft one can mould to your baby’s head or face and increase the risk of suffocation.

There are generally two types of crib mattresses: foam and innerspring. If they are good quality, both types will will provide excellent support for your baby.

The Respiro Cot mattress from Baby Trend, by Alpha Group, is a revolutionary new mattress design. Engineered with high tech breathable mesh and open sides, the mattress guarantees 100 per cent ventilation for babies and toddlers.

Respiro offers a two-stage design, with a firm side suitable from birth, then when the child grows, the mattress can be turned over to reveal a softer side, ideal for toddlers, helping children to sleep comfortably and peacefully throughout their early years.

Unlike traditional mattresses, Respiro doesn’t contain stuffing, which eliminates the need for toxic or carcinogenic flame retardants. The open-air design also makes the innovative mattress hypoallergenic, protecting little ones as it dramatically reduces dust mites and bed bugs.

Also included with the Respiro mattress, is a splash mat, laundry bag and storage bag. The mesh is easily removed from the frame for washing and storage.
