This news may be a blessing to many women who struggle to totter around in high heals everyday but The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists have warned that flat shoes do not provide adequate support to the foot.
The seemingly more comfortable flat shot can cause pain in the heel and arch of the foot if they are worn too regularly.
Lorraine Jones, a podiatrist from The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, said, ‘It’s good to see the fashion industry embracing a lower heeled shoe, but it’s also important to opt for foot ware that supports the foot.’
Women have been advised to choose a round-toed shoe with a slight heel and a strap or lace that keeps the foot in place.
