We all wrap ourselves – and most importantly, our children – up warm when we go outdoors in the winter. But when it comes to staying inside, how do we make sure our home is as cosy as possible? Cold weather could affect your children’s health so keeping your house warm in the colder months is important. A working boiler and effective insulation are great ways to keep things nice and toasty, but for homes without these, the prospect of a cold winter can be particularly chilling.
Is your boiler on the blink?
If your boiler is playing up or even broken, the thought of buying a new one can feel like a daunting expense. That’s where E.ON can help, thanks to the government-led Affordable Warmth scheme. They could replace your broken or faulty boiler for only £240. Plus, they could also cover the cost of cavity wall and loft insulation (if your current loft insulation is less than 100mm thick). You don’t even have to be an E.ON customer to qualify, but you will need to check whether you’re eligible, as a few conditions do apply.
For example: You, or whoever you live with, must be a homeowner rather than a tenant in a rental property (if you’re a tenant, it will be your landlord’s responsibility to maintain your heating system). Additionally you, or someone you live with, will also have to receive certain benefits. They’re all listed on E.ON’s Affordable Warmth webpage, but include:
- Child Benefit
- Working and Child Tax Credits
- Universal Credit
- Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance
New boiler, no problem
Don’t worry, it’s really quick and easy to see if you qualify. And if you do, the next step will be to book a free, no obligation, home survey, at a time that suits you. E.ON surveyors will check which improvements your home may need, and afterwards, they’ll let you know exactly what they can do. If you want to go ahead, they’ll book in your installation date. And that’s it! Your warm winter will be sorted, so you can enjoy the peace of mind that your kids will stay cosy in the colder months.
Happy customers
We caught up with Dallas and Lesley, who had their boiler replaced with E.ON’s Affordable Warmth scheme. They told us “life’s so much better now we have the new boiler. We’ve got instant hot water and nice warm radiators. We would certainly recommend E.ON to other people, it was a very straightforward process.”
Long term savings
What’s more, you could also reduce your home’s future energy bills too. Because an older, less economical boiler can be incredibly expensive to run, a new A-rated boiler could save you money in the long run.
Although the cold winter weather may still feel like a way off, being prepared is never a bad idea. After all, who wouldn’t want to spend less time worrying about heating their home, and more time enjoying cosy evenings in with the family? To see if you’re eligible, and find out more, visit the website or call 0333 202 4942. Calls to landlines and mobiles are charged at your local rate.
