Homeowners warned to background check workers

Nearly three quarters of homeowners have not carried out background checks on workers that they have let into their house, a new survey has revealed

You would think that protecting your home against unsolicited intruders would be obvious but the study, carried out by 192.com, found that many home owners have been very trusting when it comes to letting workers, such as builders, nannies and housekeepers, into their home.

Although some have had good experiences with these unchecked workers, one in 10 admitted that they had been ripped off.

Online directory 192.com have warned that whether it’s a fundraiser or a gardener, homeowners should always do a background check before they let people into their home.
