The research has uncovered the top five holidays that Brits have booked for 2013, with many planning to risk the weather by booking a beach holiday on home soil. However, more ‘energetic’ escapes such as a safari in Africa or skiing in France were not as popular, with just 2% planning this style of holiday.
Top five holidays for Brits in 2013:
1) City break
2) Beach holiday abroad
3) All-inclusive holiday
4) Camping and Caravanning in the UK
5) Beach holiday in the UK
In the battle of the sexes it’s men who are more likely to book an extravagant extreme package, with women preferring the comfort of a caravan.
For those couples still looking to plan their holiday, it seems city breaks could be the perfect choice to please both parties, with this type of break proving to be just as popular with men as with women. City breaks have also proved to be the most popular holiday across all age groups, with the exception of the younger generation (18-24 year olds) who have favoured typical beach breaks abroad this year.
Andrew Shorrock, Product Manager of Carhiremarket.com, said: “City breaks are ideal getaways for those who want to get out the country quickly and enjoy a few days away. Holidaymakers that have limited time off work or hate the inconvenience of public transport in foreign countries can grab a hire car and zip round their chosen city in style.”
