Part of the question of arranging care is knowing what sort is right for each individual. The experts from Cinnamon Luxury Care explain their approach
• What type of care do you provide?
Every day should be meaningful, different and have purpose. At Cinnamon we offer a wide choice of care, whether you are fully independent, require nursing care, specialist dementia care or respite support. We like to think we offer something special, the difference between good care and great care.
Most of our residents benefit from residential care delivered as tailored support by our 24 hour care teams, in exceptional, purpose-built accommodation. Such care reduces the loneliness often experienced in the home setting, as there are fellow residents to befriend, new hobbies and social activities to enjoy, all within the care home environment. For residents with higher care needs, Cinnamon nursing care offers the reassurance of expert professional help at all times. Our brilliant nursing teams work alongside GPs to provide exceptional person-centred care.
• Who can benefit from respite care?
Cinnamon’s respite care offers flexible short-term care that gives carers that well-earned break they need. This care could be for convalescence, maybe after an operation or hospital stay, or to give a carer the opportunity to go on holiday. The person they look after also has a change of scene, to enjoy new experiences and mix with friendly people. Carers can relax, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is enjoying professional 24-hour care in a luxurious, safe and happy environment for anything up to six weeks.
• What are the special requirements of dementia care?
Living with dementia doesn’t have to be a difficult, lonely experience. There are lots of ways of helping people to live a full and happy life. At Cinnamon our friendly team of compassionate carers offer real understanding within a dementia community, providing 24 hour care every day.
Our unique Cinnamon training programme gives our carers in-depth knowledge of the different stages and types of dementia, coupled with insight into the experience of living with the condition and the complex nature of communication. This ensures residents living with dementia receive the empathy, continuity and consistency that isvital to sustained wellbeing. We also support resident families and local communities with Dementia support groups to share experiences and insights.
On a practical level, we provide specialist dementia friendly environments with themed spaces, such as art rooms, retro kitchens and music areas to stimulate resident engagement and to aid reminiscence. Several Cinnamon Care homes also run Dementia Cafes, with sport or music themes – a great way to engage people living with dementia to help families and friends to understand the condition better.
• What are the special features of a retirement village?
Cinnamon retirement villages provide the perfect place to enjoy a luxury and secure independent lifestyle. Spacious and well-designed retirement apartments along with luxury facilities are combined with the reassurance of helpful services and the peace of mind that staff are on-site 24-hours a day. Our teams assist with a wide range of day-to-day needs and stimulating activities, arranging transport, organising trips and planning special events.
• What facilities and activities could I expect to find at a Cinnamon care home?
Facilities are outstanding, including restaurants with in-house chefs, piano bars, fitness suites, hair and beauty salons, cinema rooms, luxury lounges, libraries and private dining rooms. We pride ourselves on bringing the latest in senior living to our residents. For example, we are the first care group with specifically trained staff providing drum based exercise classes, a great way to get less active people moving. Research has found that drumming stimulates the prefrontal cortex and improves cognition in older adults, with both exercise and drumming providing benefits for the ageing mind. Each home also has numerous initiatives to make residents feel part of their local community, including intergenerational activities such as reading with local school children and hosting local cadet groups.
• Where can I find Cinnamon care homes and villages?
Cinnamon currently has 20 open care homes and retirement villages with 3 more under development. The retirement villages are in Kent, London and West Midlands and we operate care homes in London, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, Dorset, Devon, Kent, Surrey, Worcestershire, West Midlands and Yorkshire.
