Ten Most Anticipated Film Releases of 2024

2024 promises a much-needed cinematic feast. From the return of popular franchises to the debut of promising adaptations, the silver screen is ready to light up your weekends with an array of compelling narratives.

Here’s a countdown of the ten most anticipated film releases that are all set to create ripples in 2024.

10. ‘Inside Out 2’ – Pixar’s Emotional Rollercoaster is Back

We kick off our countdown with the sequel to one of Pixar’s most beloved films – ‘Inside Out 2’. The sequel revisits Riley, the protagonist from the original film, who’s now navigating the emotional labyrinth of college life.

In this follow-up, the film introduces a plethora of new emotions, reflecting the complex emotional landscape of adolescence. Reports suggest that while Amy Poehler will return as the voice of Joy, not all original cast members are expected to reprise their roles.

‘Inside Out 2’ is slated to hit the screens on June 14th.

9. ‘Ballerina’ – A Dance of Revenge

Marking the first spin-off from the ‘John Wick’ franchise, the action-packed ‘Ballerina’ is up next. Ana de Armas steps into the shoes of an assassin trained by the Ruska Roma, the criminal organisation introduced in ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’.

While details remain under wraps, we do know that the film is set between the events of ‘Chapter 3’ and ‘Chapter 4’ and that Keanu Reeves is set to make a cameo. ‘Ballerina’ is scheduled to premiere on June 7th.

8. ‘Madame Web’ – Spider-Man Universe Expands

In the eighth spot, we have ‘Madame Web’, the newest addition to Sony’s ‘Spider-Man’ franchise. Dakota Johnson assumes the role of the clairvoyant Spidey side character, Madame Web. The movie, set to release on February 14th, promises a unique Valentine’s Day treat for superhero fans.

7. ‘Argylle’ – A Novel Spy Story

Starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell, ‘Argylle’ brings a refreshing twist to the world of espionage. Directed by Matthew Vaughn, the plot revolves around a spy novelist who unknowingly starts mirroring real-life criminal activities in her books, plunging her into a world of danger and unexpected adventures.

‘Argylle’ is scheduled for release on February 2nd.

6. ‘Mean Girls’ – A Musical Revamp

Coming in at the sixth spot is the musical adaptation of the 2004 comedy classic, ‘Mean Girls’. Not quite a remake, the new film is an adaptation of the Broadway musical, which in turn was an adaptation of the original film.

Featuring a star-studded cast including Angourie Rice, Reneé Rapp, and Tina Fey, ‘Mean Girls’ has already hit cinemas on January 12th.
