Oasis Are Back! – Which Top Ten Bands Should Reform?

With news that Oasis are getting together again and going on the road, we thought we’d have a quick run-down of 10 of the top bands we’d like to see play together again. Tragically, due to the death of some members, it will be impossible in some cases to reunite the original musicians – but there’s plenty of precedent for relatives or lookalikes taking their places. Let us know which bands you would like to see on the road again!

10. Pink Floyd
Greatest Hits: “Comfortably Numb,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Another Brick in the Wall,” “Money,” “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”
Reason to Reform: Their groundbreaking work in progressive rock remains influential. A reunion would be a tribute to their late members and a celebration of their legacy in rock and psychedelia.

9. Led Zeppelin
Greatest Hits: “Stairway to Heaven,” “Whole Lotta Love,” “Kashmir,” “Black Dog,” “Immigrant Song”
Reason to Reform: Led Zeppelin’s unique blend of hard rock and blues defined a generation. A reunion would satisfy a huge demand from fans and offer an opportunity to hear their legendary tracks live once more.

8. Oasis
Greatest Hits: “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Champagne Supernova,” “Live Forever,” “Supersonic”
Reason to Reform: As the flagbearers of Britpop, Oasis’ raw energy and anthemic songs still resonate. Reuniting would quench fans’ nostalgia and resolve the Gallagher brothers’ legendary feud, and after 15 years of waiting, it sound like it’s now going to happen!

7. The Police
Greatest Hits: “Every Breath You Take,” “Roxanne,” “Message in a Bottle,” “Don’t Stand So Close to Me,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”
Reason to Reform: Their fusion of rock, reggae, and punk created a distinctive sound that defined the late ’70s and early ’80s. A reunion could introduce their innovative music to a new generation.

6. R.E.M.
Greatest Hits: “Losing My Religion,” “Everybody Hurts,” “Man on the Moon,” “The One I Love,” “Shiny Happy People”
Reason to Reform: R.E.M.’s influence on alternative rock is profound. A reunion could reinvigorate the genre and offer fresh commentary on the current social and political landscape through their music.

5. The Smiths
Greatest Hits: “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out,” “This Charming Man,” “How Soon Is Now?,” “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now,” “Panic”
Reason to Reform: The Smiths’ combination of Morrissey’s introspective lyrics and Johnny Marr’s jangly guitar defined the indie scene of the ’80s. A reunion would satisfy long-standing fan demands and bridge the gap between indie and mainstream.

4. Nirvana
Greatest Hits: “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “Come As You Are,” “Lithium,” “Heart-Shaped Box,” “In Bloom”
Reason to Reform: While Kurt Cobain’s tragic death makes a true reunion impossible, surviving members could pay homage to their legacy with a tribute tour or special performances, reintroducing their grunge ethos to a new audience.

3. ABBA
Greatest Hits: “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “The Winner Takes It All,” “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!”
Reason to Reform: ABBA’s timeless pop music continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Though they recently reunited for a virtual tour, a live reunion would be a nostalgic celebration of their catchy, feel-good music.

2. The White Stripes
Greatest Hits: “Seven Nation Army,” “Fell in Love with a Girl,” “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground,” “Icky Thump,” “We’re Going to Be Friends”
Reason to Reform: As pioneers of garage rock revival, The White Stripes brought raw, minimalist rock to the forefront. A reunion would reignite interest in the simplicity and power of two-piece rock bands, and possibly inspire new music.

1. The Beatles
Greatest Hits: “Hey Jude,” “Let It Be,” “Yesterday,” “A Day in the Life,” “Come Together”
Reason to Reform: The Beatles are arguably the most influential band in music history. A reunion, even posthumously with surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, would be a historic event, reminding the world of their timeless impact on music.

These bands not only defined their eras but also left an indelible mark on the music industry. Their potential reunions would offer both nostalgia and the possibility of new musical explorations.
