Protecting Your Property Against Water Leakage

One of the most destructive misadventures that can affect a property is water leakage. The experts from Envirotech explain how to protect against it

Why is it important to install a water leak detection system?

In a nutshell, prevention is better than cure!  Fitting a water leak detection system will greatly reduce the volume of water that will escape should there be a leak. The less that leaks the less damage that will occur.

What are the elements of a water leak detection system?

The main element is a combined flow meter and valve unit.  This is installed on the mains cold water pipe and monitors the continuous flow of water running through the pipe.  Should this exceed thresholds based on time and volume, the valve will automatically close.

Can I configure a system to alert me by SMS?

The Imrita smart home water leak detector comes with an App that will alert when a leak has been detected.

What package systems does EnviroTech offer and how much do they cost?

We offer the Imrita in a ¾” or a 1” version depending on the cold water mains pipe size.  The ¾” version is £ 276.00 inc VAT and the 1” version is £ 312.00 inc VAT and there’s £ 15 carriage.

Can EnviroTech specify a bespoke multi-zone system for my property?

There are two approaches to achieve this.  The Imrita has the option to add up to 7 wireless probes. These can be positioned in the most vulnerable areas around the property and will shut the valve in the main unit immediately when water comes into contact with any of them.  The other alternative is to have a wired multizone alarm panel, which can be specified to have between 2 and 200 zones.

Are EnviroTech system compliant with BREEAM standards?

We do have a system that meets the requirement of BREEAM WAT02 and WAT03 for monitoring consumption and detecting major water leaks.  This is our LeakSaver product and uses pulsed water meters to monitor the flow of water, in a similar way to how the Imritasmart home water leak detector works.

Can I install a water leak detection system myself?

It is possible to fit the Imrita product yourself providing you are confident to cut into the mains cold water pipe and fit the appropriate connections.  We would recommend using a plumber when looking to fit our LeakSaver product.

What other types of alarm system does Envirotech offer?

We have a wide range of flow based and sensor based water leak detection alarms.  We have a number of different leak detection packages for office Tea Points, Comms rooms, Plant Rooms and basements.

What’s the story behind Envirotech?
