Remembering the Platinum Jubilee – Commemorative Gifts to Treasure
Coinage
There’s a good deal of Platinum Jubilee coinage on the market, but perhaps the most important are the coins from the Royal Mint. As the original maker of UK coins, The Royal Mint has struck every UK coin of The Queen’s reign and is are marking this once-in-a-lifetime moment with one of its largest coin collections to date.
John Bergdahl has created a commemorative Platinum Jubilee portrait depicting Her Majesty on horseback and two beautifully decorative reverse designs for the occasion. The collection also includes the first UK 50p coin issued by The Royal Mint to celebrate a royal event, which features a bold, graphical celebration of The Queen’s reign by the design agency Osborne Ross on the reverse. The obverse features the Platinum Jubilee portrait.
Created in collaboration with the royal historian and author Professor Kate Williams, each edition comes with packaging exploring particular elements of Her Majesty’s remarkable life and reign.
The collection also includes historic coin sets and a limited number of Celebration Sovereigns struck on 6 February 2022. In a rare departure from the ‘St George and the Dragon’ design, these sovereigns will bear a Royal Arms design by the heraldic artist Timothy Noad.
You can be sure that there will be loads of Platinum Jubilee memorabilia for sale – our advice is, invest in some good pieces you will want to hang onto and pass down through the family – then they’ll all have a chance to share your Platinum Jubilee memories!
