The side effects of radiotherapy treatment can vary, and usually start as a slight erythema (reddening of the skin), which gets worse as further radiation is given.
Water-Jel has carried out extensive research into developing a solution to protect the skin during radiotherapy, and is the first company to have developed a two-step treatment.
Cooling relief
The R1 gel cools your skin while providing intense hydration. After your first dose of radiation until your treatment is completed, R1 should be applied to the treated area as soon as it is practical for you to do so. It should be left on your skin for 20 minutes.
Soothing skincare
R2 is a lotion that moisturises, builds the skin’s defence and calms inflammation and redness. It’s recommended that you apply R2 to the irradiated skin two or three times a day, especially at bedtime. For the soothing and moisturising benefits of R2, you will need to continue to apply it for a further two weeks after the completion of your radiotherapy. In accordance with UK cancer guidelines, R1 and R2 are free from fragrance, parabens and
benzene, contain no antioxidants or metals, are clinically proven and safe to use. It’s available on prescription or over the counter. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using the products.
