GreenFox Energy’s ambition is to enable radically greater adoption of solar, reducing homeowners’ energy costs and making a significant and sustainable contribution to the UK achieving its net zero targets.
Over half of respondents in GreenFox’s recent Solar Survey, commissioned in July 2024, were positive about adopting Solar to help the planet. GreenFox aims to cultivate this desire to contribute to sustainable living by giving customers greater confidence in the effectiveness of home solar generation and in their ability to sustain and optimise the benefits – to their family finances and the environment – over time. “Although we are optimistic about the role solar can play both for the consumer and environment, there remain significant barriers to accelerating the growth in domestic solar adoption across the UK. These revolve around the responsibilities falling on the customer to be confident in their own ability to select the right hardware, identify a suitable, qualified fitter, and extract the benefits of their investment once the installation is complete.”
“This ‘confidence gap’ was also highlighted in their recent Solar Survey – 48% of respondents lacked trust in the effectiveness or suitability of solar energy systems and 20% believed that it would be impossible to make their money back on Solar Panels.”
Mission
GreenFox is on a mission to give customers confidence throughout the research, design and selection process. GreenFox works with the customer to build a comprehensive but simple proposal with appropriately specified hardware (over-specification is often a symptom of poorly trained or unscrupulous engineers), an installation process delivered by fully qualified and certified fitters and – importantly – offering ongoing support including annual cleaning, servicing and optimisation of the system to maximise benefit. Eddie said: “Our optimisation of our customers’ systems achieves 15% to 20% improvement in solar energy capture vs. non-optimised systems.”
“We increasingly find that customers are becoming more ambitious and demanding around solar energy. In particular we are hearing from an increasing number of customers seeking retrospective support with previously installed systems, sadly most of these being owners of new-build homes with woefully under-specified components.”
One such customer highlights: “As with many other new build homeowners we had solar panels, inverter and battery but no way of exporting energy to the grid. We asked GreenFox for advice and a proposal, they were helpful and gave us several options to suit our needs. In the end, we opted for a battery and an inverter Installation which was straightforward, and the engineer took the time to explain how the system worked. We also appreciated the help in using the app and that our system was monitored to ensure it was working as it should.”

Since 2023 the ‘fox set’ has grown from our initial hub in central Scotland to further afield across the UK. In September 2024 we both quoted for a installation in Bristol whilst embarking to the Isle of Coll in the Inner Hebrides to install and set up equipment on an Eco House requiring a high degree of self-sufficiency.
